Cottage

This is the cottage that is for rent. It is called the "Schwende Hut". The reason I call it that is because in 1985 I went skiing up Mt Tecumseh with my sister and at the top there was a little shack where you could get a hot dog and hot cocoa. The sign outside said "Schwende Hut". For some reason, I thought it was hilarious. I never forgot it and so when I got this house, I decided to call it the "Schwende Hut". There is a sign on the door that says that now too. By the way, I heard somewhere that in German "Schwende Hut" means "Food House".

For summer visitors:
There is an air conditioner for your convenience. If, by chance, I am up there on the day of your arrival, I will have it turned on so that the house is nice and cool upon your arrival.

For winter visitors:
The house is heated with propane. It looks like a fireplace and is very romantic but it can easily heat that house in no time. There is a thermostat near the bathroom that controls the fire and there is a fan that kicks in when the fire gets hot. If you do not like the sound of the fan, you can unplug it. Don't put anything on the stove top or adjust the controls. Trust me on this, this stove will put out as much heat as you need.

About stuff in the house:
Although there are some sheets and towels, I suggest you bring your own stuff. I do try to provide things for people who forget, such as TP, paper towels, soap and so on, but you will probably want to have your own stuff too.

Closet space is limited. There are plenty of places to hang things and lots of drawer space for clothes and such. The house can probably sleep 4 - 6 people easily - two in the queen bed; two in the full lower bunk; one in the upper bunk and one on the couch.

Here are some photos of the Schwende Hut:
